Closer than you think

Our Daily Bread
There are so many books and articles about "God's will" and finding it for your life.  It sounds more like an Indiana Jones story line than a way to live our lives!  Indiana Jones and the Will of God!  See it today at your local AMC movie theaters!  ha!

I agree with the author of the devotion that we seem to fret and worry about the Will of God instead of living our lives according to the precepts God gave us.  It is simply, isn't it?  Love God and love others!  THAT is God's will for our lives!  If we do our best at these things everything else will fall into place.  By "fall into place" I don't mean that everything in your life will be sunshine, rainbows and unicorns!  I mean that you will have the peace and joy of knowing that the God of all Creation is with you each and every day!  Every second!  Loving and serving God is the closest thing we will have to heaven on earth!  Praise God!

Lord, please help us worry less and praise you more!

Psalm Sunday
Let's look at Psalm 138 today.  It is a beautiful psalm that reminds me of Psalm 23.  Read through it out loud and see for yourself!

Psalm 138

Of David.

1 I will praise you, Lord, with all my heart;
    before the “gods” I will sing your praise.
2 I will bow down toward your holy temple
    and will praise your name
    for your unfailing love and your faithfulness,
for you have so exalted your solemn decree
    that it surpasses your fame.
3 When I called, you answered me;
    you greatly emboldened me.
4 May all the kings of the earth praise you, Lord,
    when they hear what you have decreed.
5 May they sing of the ways of the Lord,
    for the glory of the Lord is great.
6 Though the Lord is exalted, he looks kindly on the lowly;
    though lofty, he sees them from afar.
7 Though I walk in the midst of trouble,
    you preserve my life.
You stretch out your hand against the anger of my foes;
    with your right hand you save me.
8 The Lord will vindicate me;
    your love, Lord, endures forever—
    do not abandon the works of your hands.
