Remember who you are representing

Our Daily Bread
I like a lot of sports.  As I talk with friends about things that happen in sports, especially in college sports, I hear something like this a lot "He shouldn't act like that.  He should realize who he is representing with that uniform on or off".

I thought of this when reading the devotional.  Do we remember who we are representing when we interact with others?  Do we remember to be a light in this dark world?  Do we realize we have the honor to represent our Lord and Savior?  How are we doing with that?  ;-p  I know I am not very good at it all the time.

Funny story.  A coworker saw me struggling to type in a long password on my laptop.  He asked "What kind of password is that?"  I told him it was a Bible verse reminder.  He said "Really?  YOU are religious?" in an incredulous tone.  Somewhat embarrassed, I replied "Imagine what I would be if I wasn't!"  Oh boy.  Lord have mercy.  What kind of light am I being?  How about you?

Lord, thank you for the honor and privilege of being a light for you.  Please help us shine bright and true!

Psalm Sunday
We are reading Psalm 112 today.  It is a collection of lessons about how to live and how God is faithful.  I love verse 4:
"Even in darkness light dawns for the upright,
    for those who are gracious and compassionate and righteous."

Read it out loud.  See what verses speak to you!

Psalm 112

1 Praise the Lord.
Blessed are those who fear the Lord,
    who find great delight in his commands.
2 Their children will be mighty in the land;
    the generation of the upright will be blessed.
3 Wealth and riches are in their houses,
    and their righteousness endures forever.
4 Even in darkness light dawns for the upright,
    for those who are gracious and compassionate and righteous.
5 Good will come to those who are generous and lend freely,
    who conduct their affairs with justice.
6 Surely the righteous will never be shaken;
    they will be remembered forever.
7 They will have no fear of bad news;
    their hearts are steadfast, trusting in the Lord.
8 Their hearts are secure, they will have no fear;
    in the end they will look in triumph on their foes.
9 They have freely scattered their gifts to the poor,
    their righteousness endures forever;
    their horn will be lifted high in honor.
10 The wicked will see and be vexed,
    they will gnash their teeth and waste away;
    the longings of the wicked will come to nothing.

If we’re gonna pray about it
There’s no use in worrying
If we’re gonna worry about it
Why are we praying
Just leave it in the hands of the Father
Leave it in the hands of the Healer
Leave it in the hands of Jesus
And walk away
Walk away   -- Brandon Heath & Thad Cockrell
