Still, still, still

Our Daily Bread
There is a lovely arrangement of a song called Still, Still, Still for SATB choir that is just lovely.  I fall into a heavenly funk of peace every time I hear it!  It is a traditional Austrian lullaby.  Here is a youtube video of a the Trinity Choir from Boston singing it.

Yes, a peaceful feeling is a great feeling, especially when it relates to our relationship with God!  We all know when we feel out of sorts with our lives, usually because we are out of sorts with our relationship with God.  What is the cure?  Prayer and Bible study!  The same formula that helped us get closer to God is the way back to him.  It is too easy to let ourselves get complacent with our relationship to God.  Satan tries to trick us with pride into believing we are "close enough to God".  Yikes!  Stay close to God.  He will stay close to you!

Lord, thank you for your peace that passes all understanding!

Meekness
I looked at several definitions of meekness.  The first few I found said it meant "submissiveness".  That didn't see right to me in the context of the Holy Scriptures.  I finally found this one on the Mirriiam-Webster web site.  I think it says it best:

having or showing a quiet and gentle nature : not wanting to fight or argue with other people

Doesn't that sound more "biblical" than submissive or deficient in spirit or courage?  I think so.  We have all met people, and I am one of them, that is sort of a loud extrovert.  That is putting it nicely.  There is no mention of a "quiet and gentle nature".  There can be frequent disagreements because they (I am) are always putting their opinions out there.  As the song says, I am looking at the man in the mirror on this one.  We may never have a quiet and gentle nature, but with the help of the Holy Spirit we can show a quiet and gentle nature.  We all know folks with this kind of nature.  I met one two weeks ago that I would characterize as the meekness poster child.  She is brilliant and meek.  Wow!  Praise God!
