Rainbows and unicorns

Our Daily Bread
We were talking about the Christian life recently.  I made a silly statement that a lot of folks think that it is supposed to be rainbows and unicorns!  They don't understand when life seems hard and they have to trust God even more to get through.  IMHO, God also acts a coach to push us to the edges of our endurance so he can teach us to grow and run the race better than before!

I use the same phrase about love.  Many folks think that love should be all rainbows and unicorns.  Sometimes love can be hard for us.  When we have to be a parent.  When we have to deal with a loved one that is having issues of some kind.  When we insist on being selfish and not thinking of the needs of others.  Love can rein us back in to the correct path.  As the devotion says, the journey is more than worth it!  Love rules! Praise God!

Lord, please teach us to love whether we experience rainbows and unicorns or hurt and disappointment.  Love teaches us to be more like you.

Teaching Tuesday
I thought a lot more about the Gospel of John this week.  I am thankful for this book as it seems to be a culmination of all the Gospels and more.  The stories are very cool.  They seem to fit together to assure us that Jesus is who he is!  Praise Jesus!

Check out John 3:16.  A popular verse with evangelical churches.

John 10:10 is a verse I memorized when I was a Royal Ambassador.  I still know it today.

There are also lots of other stories and details that we don't have in other Gospels.
