Our Daily Bread
Limited time offer! Come in the store today! This offer won't last long! Why wait? These are some of the tag lines for commercials or ads to encourage us to buy a product or service at a special price as soon as possible. Why add a time frame? Because people will wait as long as they can to take advantage of a special offer if it is available all the time! It is human nature! I don't know how many times I have waited too long for a special offer only to find it has expired!
The point of today's devotional is to live our lives like it is a special offer. Don't wait! Live your life for God today! We won't live forever! Why wait? Ha! It is true. If we thought we would live forever, we would wait forever to do the right things. Would we really strive to live for God forever if we stayed on this earth? Wouldn't we be tempted to take a few years off and be bad? Live for him today. And tomorrow. And the next day and until we see Him face to face!
Lord, thank you for our time on this earth. Please help us number our days and live for you while we can!
Movie Monday
Les Miserables
I saw the new movie version of Les Miserables on Christmas day. Even if you don't care for the story, which some people don't, I thought this movie version was pretty darn good. There were several good performances. Some not that great. The cinematography and staging were very good. The technique they used for the songs was a nice change -- they made the singing look more natural and part of the set instead of "OK, stop and sing now." I think it might get an Oscar nod for Best Picture, one for best actress and maybe one or two more. It is worth seeing at the theater, too.
I give this three bear paws. See it in the theater to get the full effect of the music and the cinematography.
