Stored forever

Our Daily Bread
After my grandmother died, I helped my relative sort through the house she lived in for fifty years.  I found boxes and boxes of cards, letters, and notes.  As I went through them, I tried to sort them out so the sender could have them back if they wanted.  I was very touched by all the ones from me she saved.

Think about how special the Bible is the next time you read it.  I like the way the devotional talks about the preservation of the Bible and how we have more information about Jesus in the scriptures and manuscripts than historians have about several historical folks!  That is amazing!  There is a reason it was preserved, even though it can be difficult to understand at times -- it is God's Living Word!  Read it.  Let it live in you, too!

Lord, thank you for your Living Word.  Help us understand and live our lives according to it!

Psalm Sunday
Let's look at Psalm 75 this week.  This is the first time I have heard of the tune "Do Not Destroy".  I am not sure where that came from.  Here is a web page that has two different guys singing this tune.  Very interesting.

Psalm 75

For the director of music. To the tune of “Do Not Destroy.” A psalm of Asaph. A song.

1 We praise you, God,
    we praise you, for your Name is near;
    people tell of your wonderful deeds.
2 You say, “I choose the appointed time;
    it is I who judge with equity.
3 When the earth and all its people quake,
    it is I who hold its pillars firm.
4 To the arrogant I say, ‘Boast no more,’
    and to the wicked, ‘Do not lift up your horns.
5 Do not lift your horns against heaven;
    do not speak so defiantly.’”
6 No one from the east or the west
    or from the desert can exalt themselves.
7 It is God who judges:
    He brings one down, he exalts another.
8 In the hand of the Lord is a cup
    full of foaming wine mixed with spices;
he pours it out, and all the wicked of the earth
    drink it down to its very dregs.
9 As for me, I will declare this forever;
    I will sing praise to the God of Jacob,
10 who says, “I will cut off the horns of all the wicked,
    but the horns of the righteous will be lifted up.”

*************************************
I pray the weight of my sins doth not crush me back to dust from where I came. I pray that God create in me a new, clean heart and place a right spirit within me. Restore to me the joy of my salvation. Praise the Almighty God from whom all blessings flow.
