Retina display

Our Daily Bread
Yes, I am a gadget geek.  I can't wait for the iPad Mini with Retina display to come out.  What is "retina display"?  It is a screen technology that shows colors and images in amazing clarity and precision.  The technology has been available on iPhones, larger iPads and Apple laptops for a year or two.

I thought of this technology while reading the devotional about praising the name of the Lord, the inventor of the retina!  Amazing work!  He also created the retina display of nature around us, both on this planet and in outer space that gives us such amazing subjects to photograph!  Looking around us can give us a multitude of reasons to praise the Lord!

Thank you, God, for making all things.  Each one is amazing in its own way!  We thank you and praise you!

Teaching Tuesday
We read chapters three and four in our New Testament book this week.  It gave an overview of the The Gospels and an overview chapter on Jesus.

The chapter about Jesus talked about how study the man called Jesus.  How to read the things written about him.  Who we think he was.  What others said about him.  What he said about himself.  The metaphors that Jesus used to describe himself were many.  Very interesting stuff.

The chapter about The Gospels also gave some good insight on the approach to study.  The main point I got out of it was to take each Gospel individually.  Each one provided a different view of Jesus that we are meant to see.  Too often we try to mush all the writings about Jesus together to get a composite view.  That is not the best way to study him and his teachings.  Let's focus on reading and studying each account in the way they were written.
