Sleep my pretty sleep...

Our Daily Bread
Sleep can have negative implications in fairy tales and some movies.  Sleep induced by an evil queen.  A sleep spell cast by and evil witch.  Slothful sleeping by young folks or even old folks (Rip Van Winkle).  All I know is that sleep is a good thing for me!

The devotional talks about sleep and how difficult it can be to fall asleep at times. Our minds are still running even after our bodies are too tired to take one more step!  We worry.  We fret. We stress.  We wrap our busy minds around things we can't control instead of turning them over to God.  I wondered about the author's suggestion to pray during these times.  I think it would be rude to fall asleep while talking to God!  ha!  May I suggest the following: Clench your fist as tight as you can, then open it quickly in a upward motion saying "Let it go!"  Yes, we can do that!  Repeat as necessary!

Lord, we thank you for sleep.  We thank you for peace and comfort so we can enjoy it!

Teaching Tuesday
Romans
We read the book of Romans this week.  I cracked up the class when I said reading some of Paul's works can be like reading Dr Seuss and Yoda from Star Wars combined.  It seems to go around in circles, but it usually makes his point!  We are going to read the chapter in our book about Romans for next Monday.  Here are my notes:

This is Amazing
Paul's discussion of  grace

This Befuddles/Bothers me
Clarification of passions burning towards same sexes. This passage is generally believed to be directed at pagan sex rituals.  The rituals also included heterosexual "burning" for each other as well.  He does not directly address that in this passage, which doesn't make sense to me.  I will dig deeper.

The predestined passages in ch 8

Ch9:15

This is worthy of Celebration
Grace. Christ dying for all

I want to Dig Deeper into this
He talks a lot about not judging.
Clarification of passions burning towards same sexes.
