Our Daily Bread
I like funny movies, but not all funny movies. I remember one that was particularly unfunny to me except for one line. The character was some kind of leader who had messed up. When he faced the folks he wronged, he undauntedly smiled and exclaimed "MY people!" That didn't go over very well with the peeps! ha!
There is one leader that honors us beyond compare when he calls us "MY people!" -- our Almighty God! He made us all. He wants to have a relationship with us. I love the saying by Augustine at the end of the devotional:
God loves each of us as if there were only one of us. —Augustine
The closest example I can think of in my tiny human brain that might make sense is the love of a grandparent. A grandparent loves each grandchild as if there were only one of them!
Lord we thank you and praise you for claiming us as your people! Please help us live our lives for you!
Psalm Sunday
We are reading Psalm 125 today. I can see where the idea of karma came from when I read this passage! ha! I love the imagery of the a believer in God being unmovable and God being with us forever!
Psalm 125
A song of ascents.
1 Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion,
which cannot be shaken but endures forever.
2 As the mountains surround Jerusalem,
so the Lord surrounds his people
both now and forevermore.
3 The scepter of the wicked will not remain
over the land allotted to the righteous,
for then the righteous might use
their hands to do evil.
4 Lord, do good to those who are good,
to those who are upright in heart.
5 But those who turn to crooked ways
the Lord will banish with the evildoers.
Peace be on Israel.

For great is his love toward us, and the faithfulness of the Lord endures forever. Praise the Lord.- Psalm 117:2
