And the winner is...

Our Daily Bread
I laugh at how politically correct we are sometimes. When they changed introduction for the winners of awards at the Grammys, Tonys, etc a few years ago, I laughed harder. They no longer say "The winner is". They say "The Grammy goes to"  Even though we are taught to be winners in our culture, we are still uncomfortable with it at times!

The devotional talks about a winner and loser in the spiritual sense. Christ is the winner and conqueror of all evil. Satan is the loser to the power of God.  I like the statement that we give Satan too much credit at times.  Almost like the old Church Lady routine from Saturday Night Live!  Satan can cause confusion in this world. It is our responsibility to discern the truth with the help of the Holy Spirit and live for God.  May the Lord be with us!

Teaching Tuesday
Looking for God
I mentioned on Facebook that I attended the viewing of my roommate's father who passed last week.
What I didn't mention is that I was in a minority -- most of the folks there were Spanish speaking. The memory card was also in Spanish.

Even though I didn't understand it all, I saw God in the prayers the family and friends did for Mr. Cruz.
There must have been 100 people participating as they read and chanted and did the rosary. It was very moving even though I could only pick out a few words here and there.

Lesson for this week: Look for God everywhere. He can usually be found!
