Our Daily Bread
I tried my hand at drawing and painting when I was a child. I saw an advertisement for an art school in the back of a comic book, so I sent in a drawing. I don't think they were interested in my abilities. Oh well. I kept at it though and asked for an oil painting set for Christmas that year. I was so excited. I made one of my sisters dress up in her Sunday best with her long, beautiful red hair shining and painted her portrait. I remember the family saying how good it was. How I captured her on canvas.
I then gave up my budding painting career! LOL
The devotional talks about how artists have tried to paint portraits of Jesus over the centuries even though we don't have any kind of picture or physical description to go by. Talk about a tough gig!
As you know, there are a LOT of different interpretations of what Jesus might have looked like. I have not seen many that I really admired over the years.
IMHO, the best way we can create a portrait of our Christ, is to live the way he taught us to live. We can create a portrait of Christ from our love and good works and from our growing relationship with God. Isn't that what Christ looks like? May the Lord be with us!
Wellness Wednesday
While watching my Facebook newsfeed and listening to folks talk at a meeting at church last night, I thought more about the Pelotonia event this year than I ever have before. It is such an inspiring display of doctors, nurses, lay people, cancer survivors, folks touched by cancer in some way, and the general public riding long distances to raise money to fight cancer. As of this morning, the ride last weekend has raised over $95 million dollars! Wow! There is still time to donate or buy Pelotonia gear. Make your Wellness Wednesday a day to support a great cause!
