Our Daily Bread
I could relate to the devotional this morning because I was one of those chess geeks in junior high! I remember wanting a magnetic chess set in a folding case more than anything one Christmas! My stepfather started me playing when I was 9. I was beating him by age 10! I haven't played in years, but I remember how the game taught me to think and plan.
The devotional relates this childhood experience with giving our lives over to the Master just like we give in to a chess master in real life. Most of us could never understand how a chess master thinks and processes the moves for his or her pieces. While we are so much more than chess pieces to our Heavenly Master, we often have difficulty understanding His ways. Let us be like the young chess players who read and practiced so they could be more like the master!
