Strangely dim

Our Daily Bread
I have a nice theme going today.  That is sooooo important!  ha!

The devotional had two main points for me: dwelling in God's Word and spiritual pride.  It never ceases to amaze me how the Holy Spirit can speak to us while reading God's Word!  Dwelling in His word means more than casual reading.  Studying.  Writing down questions and praying about them.  Reading the background of the books and history.  Wow!

The second point is developing spiritual pride after you start your journey.  Yikes!  I find myself going down this path way to often!  ;-(  I sometimes say things like "If you actually read the Bible, it doesn't say that" or "I wish I could debate with that person.  I would show them!"  Yeah.  Don't do that any more, duanebear!

My prayers for us: study more.  Less Pride.  The more we do these things, the more other things grow strangely dim in our lives!

Lord, we thank you and praise for opening your Word to us.  Please help us to grow in love and humility!

Strangely dim
I heard a new song this week.  For a "planner" kind of person like me, it hit a nerve (in a good spiritual way).  Believe me when I say that I am looking at things differently now.  The song lyrics verified in my silly bear brain something that God has been talking to me about.  Does this song apply to your life?

"Strangely Dim"

I've got all these plans piled up sky high
A thousand dreams on hold
And I don't know why,
I got a front row seat
To the longest wait
And I just can't see
Past the things I pray
Today

But when I fix my eyes on all that You are
Then every doubt I feel
Deep in my heart
Grows strangely dim
All my worries fade
And fall to the ground
Cause when I seek Your face
And don't look around
Any place I'm in
Grows strangely dim

Sometimes where I stand
On this narrow road
Is in a raging storm
Or a valley low
But oh oh oh oh oh oh

When I fix my eyes on all that You are
Then every doubt I feel
Deep in my heart
Grows strangely dim
All my worries fade
And fall to the ground
Cause when I seek Your face
And don't look around
Any place I'm in
Grows strangely dim

I don't know, I don't know
What tomorrow may hold
But I know, but I know
That You're holding it all
So no matter what may come

I'm gonna fix my eyes on all that You are
'Til every doubt I feel
Deep in my heart
Grows strangely dim
Let all my worries fade
And fall to the ground
I'm gonna seek Your face
And not look around
Til the place I'm in
Grows strangely, strangely, strangely dim.
