What am I?

Our Daily Bread
Did you ever play the game "What am I?" as a child or teenager?  One person describes the characteristics of a person, place or thing.  The others try to guess what it is or who it is in as few guesses as possible.

We sometimes play that game with ourselves and God.  We ask God "What am I?" except we are the ones trying to provide the answers!  Instead of listening to the Holy Spirit for the answers, we try to answer the question ourselves based on our environment and the way we were raised.  For example, I have a dear friend who has the gift of helping.  He is an amazing helper.  The problem is that he longs to be a singer or a missionary or something other than what he is.  I have been praying for him and encouraging him to recognize that gift, use it for God and build on that gift to discover amazing ways to help others that he never imagined.
I won't mention some of the body parts that some folks have suggested for me over the years.  I fully realize I need some new friends.  ;-p

Lord, you have work for each of us to do.  You have gifted us to do it.  Please help us discover it and do the best we can for your glory!

Simply Saturday
Since music speaks to me (us), I decided to post the lyrics of a song and the link to the Youtube video each week.  Most songs will be contemporary Christian songs.  The song of the Week: Worn by Tenth Avenue North.  Check out the lyrics below.  Click here to watch the video.  The song expresses how I have been feeling the past week or two.  I am working on it with God.  ;-)

"Worn"

I’m Tired I’m worn
My heart is heavy
From the work it takes
To keep on breathing
I’ve made mistakes
I’ve let my hope fail
My soul feels crushed
By the weight of this world

And I know that you can give me rest
So I cry out with all that I have left

Let me see redemption win
Let me know the struggle ends
That you can mend a heart
That’s frail and torn
I wanna know a song can rise
From the ashes of a broken life
And all that’s dead inside can be reborn
Cause I’m worn

I know I need to lift my eyes up
But I'm too weak
Life just won’t let up
And I know that you can give me rest
So I cry out with all that I have left

Let me see redemption win
Let me know the struggle ends
That you can mend a heart
That’s frail and torn
I wanna know a song can rise
From the ashes of a broken life
And all that’s dead inside can be reborn
Cause I’m worn

My prayers are wearing thin
Yeah, I’m worn
Even before the day begins
Yeah, I’m worn
I’ve lost my will to fight
I’m worn
So, heaven come and flood my eyes

Let me see redemption win
Let me know the struggle ends
That you can mend a heart
That’s frail and torn
I wanna know a song can rise
From the ashes of a broken life
And all that’s dead inside can be reborn
Cause all that’s dead inside will be reborn

Though I’m worn
Yeah I’m worn
