Our Daily Bread
Have you ever seen the Broadway show Big River? There is a short song in it sung by Huck's father called Dat Gum Guv-mint. You can imagine what it is about! A funny side note is that was learning that song and apparently sang it in the middle of a bar in San Francisco after a night of drinking. I don't remember it so it didn't happen!
There is a lot of talk about our government and the governments around the world. I feel sorry for President Obama. I have never seen a president attacked so horribly in my life. The Bible talks about our responsibility to the government. We are to honor it as best we can. We are to support it via its laws. And most importantly, we are to pray for our leaders. And by praying, I don't mean posting mean and untrue things about them on Facebook!
Lord, you established a primitive government system in the Old Testament. Please help us honor and support our government as a way of serving and honoring you!
Psalm Sunday
Let's look at Psalm 100 today. It is one of my favorites! Woohooo! So much said in just five verses. I love saying or singing this psalm in good times and bad. Praise God!
Psalm 100
A psalm. For giving grateful praise.
1 Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth.
2 Worship the Lord with gladness;
come before him with joyful songs.
3 Know that the Lord is God.
It is he who made us, and we are his;
we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving
and his courts with praise;
give thanks to him and praise his name.
5 For the Lord is good and his love endures forever;
his faithfulness continues through all generations.

We are far from perfect, but despite our mistakes and our sins, we will never abandon the Lord and he will never abandon us - adapted from a statement about Abraham from the EfM Training Guide
