Heavenly orientation

Our Daily Bread
The Lady Gaga song "Born this Way" has become the anthem for several groups of people around the world.  I am familiar with it from the LGBT front where we sing it and play it like a hymn set to a dance mix! The song says that LGBT folks did not make a choice.  They were make that way by God.

IMHO, we also inherited an orientation for sinning.  We start out fine, then figure out how to sin pretty early in life.  We keep it up and get better at it with age!  I loved the line in the devotional that talked about the "heavenly orientation" of the Cadbury family in England.  I love that term "heavenly orientation".  Now THAT is a choice!  Will we choose it today?

Lord, thank you for giving us free will.  A free will that we can choose your heavenly orientation!

Movie Monday
I got to see two movies last week.  They were very different!

The Perks of Being a Wallflower
This movie has my absolute favorite movie line of all time.  When someone asked "Why do people love people who don't treat them well?"  The answer?  "We accept the love we think we deserve".  Wow!  It was a good movie.  Lots of teen angst.  Lots of high school drama.  There was also some uncomfortable drama that will probably surprise you.  Lots of interesting characters as well.

I give this movie three bear paws.  You rent this one since it will be coming out on video soon.

The Man with the Iron Fist
I have looked forward to this movie for a while.  I like martial arts movies if they have a decent story behind it.  This one was OK.  It was very adult and definitely not for children.  The fight scenes were pretty incredible.  They were also pretty vicious.  NOT for little eyes.  Not for folks who can't stand the sight of blood and guts.

I give this movie two bear paws for the special effects and fight scenes.  The costumes and sets were incredible as well.  See it on the big screen.  Definitely.
