A race with no winner

Our Daily Bread
Have you ever watched children playing T-Ball?  The emphasis is on participating and doing your best.  Wouldn't it be nice if our churches were the same way?  Put the emphasis on participating in worship and the life of the church and doing your best to live for God!

The devotional talks about Paul's metaphor for our life in Christ being like a race.  I like this metaphor as long as we keep it in perspective.  I like the idea of pushing ourselves to finish as best we can and training to run the race as best we can.  I don't think the concept of "winning the race" applies here.  Many recreational runners only worry about competing against themselves by improving their times.  I think we should concentrate on being our personal best in our efforts to server the Lord!

Lord, thank you for giving us strength and perseverance to run life's race for you!

Foodie Friday
A friend on Facebook has been posting some great recipes.  I would like to share some with you.  I haven't tried them yet, but they sound great!

Low Fat Crinkle Cookies

Ingredients
1 box lemon cake mix (any kind, I will probably use chocolate)
1 egg, lightly beaten
2 cups Cool Whip, thawed (8 ounce container)
½ to 1 cup powdered sugar

Instructions
Preheat oven to 350.
In a large bowl, combine cake mix, egg, and Cool Whip. The batter will be sticky!

Form dough into tablespoonfuls and roll in powdered sugar.
Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, until the edges are golden. Allow to cool 1 minute on baking sheet; then remove to wire rack to cool completely.

Snickers Cake

1 box devils food cake mix, plus ingredients to make the cake
1 can sweetened condensed milk
1 jar Smucker's hot caramel ice cream topping
1/2 cup chocolate chips
2 cups heavy whipping cream
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla
3 snickers candy bars, chopped
1/3 cup peanuts, chopped
caramel sauce
chocolate sauce

Bake cake in a 9x13-inch pan according to direction on the package.

While cake is baking, mix condensed milk and hot caramel topping until well blended. When the cake is done and while it's still hot, poke holes in it with a fork or straw. Pour milk mixture over the cake. Allow cake to cool completely. Sprinkle chocolate chips over cake.

In a chilled bowl, whip together heavy cream, powdered sugar and vanilla. Whip on high speed of an electric mixer for 1-2 minutes. Stir in chopped snickers. Spread over cake. Sprinkle chopped peanuts over cake. Drizzle caramel and chocolate sauce on top. Chill.

Let go, my friends!  God will be there to catch you and hold you in his loving arms!
