Holy Week - Day 3

Our Daily Bread
I saw an article on Yahoo News the other day about "is your neighbor slowly stealing land from you?".  Hmmmm, I thought.  The article said that neighbors can be sneaky and steal land from you by expanding their flower beds and by putting the fence over on your property "accidentally".  I thought about how mankind is being sneaky and stealing land from God!

What do I mean by that?  As the devotional says, God created all and owns all.  He put mankind in charge of the earth, to use it and to take care of it.  How do you think we are doing at that?  From all appearances, we are raping the earth as fast as we can to meet the "needs" of a few people on the planet.  Are we really being responsible?

Let's pray that Christians and non-Christians can take a more balanced view of our responsibility to manage God's earth!

Lord, thank you for your creation.  Please help us manage it better!

Teaching Tuesday
The lesson this week was about the first section of Isaiah.  I didn't realize until the past few years that Isaiah probably should have been broken up into three books instead of one long one.  We studied the first 39 chapters, the ones most often attributed to Isaiah himself.  The other two sections are usually attributed to other writers, but are included with the first 39 chapters because of the flow of the stories and the accounts.

Isaiah mostly spoke in the southern kingdom.  He didn't have a lot to do with the northern kingdom of Israel.  Like all the prophets, he spoke what God told him to say.  He was a little different than some of the prophets of that era in that he saw hope for the return of Israel some day.  Other prophets, like Amos, didn't see much hope for restoration.

Check it out sometime.  Very interesting reading!  We are going to cover the other two sections next week.

Let go, my friends!  God will be there to catch you and hold you in his loving arms!
